ABOUT ME
My Journey to Design
Hey, I'm Mercadees, "just a small town girl..." from central Wisconsin where I grew up with a passion for the fine arts. I turned that passion into a career by earning a BFA in Graphic Design and Interactive Media from the University of Wisconsin Stout in May 2021.
Since then, I've been diving into different design principles as an in-house designer, but I've found true joy in developing brand identities. I love the collaborative process of creating a cohesive visual system from scratch, as well as combining my favorite design elements like research, illustration, typography, and layout.
While I'm still exploring my design style, words that describe my approach include organic, handcrafted, illustrative, geometric, clean, and functional.
Special Interests
When I'm not designing, you'll probably find me cooking up a new recipe (thanks, Pinterest) or binge-watching the latest true crime Netflix documentary... I'd like to think that if I couldn't use my artistic talents I'd be the next Sherlock Holmes.
I also enjoy hiking, kayaking, and volleyball — basically anything that lets me clear my head outdoors.
My ideal way to splurge is live music and traveling with the hopes of one day making it to Ireland!
Other ways I spend my free time include: photography, playlist curating, card games (Rummy anyone?), long drives, and family time.
While I still reside in rural Wisconsin, the little kid in me has hopes of making it in the "big city" as they say!
